Review - Deadpool #55

For those of you familiar with Deadpool and those not too familiar with him the one thing that you need to know going into this story is that he is vulnerable.  He has lost his healing factor due to a serum created by Tombstone and injected by Hydra Bob (Deadpool’s only friend) which is exactly what he wanted.

This issue starts with a simple task that Deadpool has not had to do in a while, shave.  Since his face has been messed up, shaving has not been much of an issue for DP, but since he got back his pristine face, he wants to look as good as possible.  Problem is like a young teenage boy first learning to shave he keeps cutting himself.

This leads him of into a little monologue (is it a monologue when DP is speaking to the voices in his head?) either way “they” decide to get back out there and do what he does killing someone.  He goes after the Intelligencia, who are planning to do nothing.  Their plan is while all the Superheroes are fighting each other they are going to sit back and wait until they take themselves out.

DP goes right into their base and starts taking care of business.  One problem he cannot exactly do things how he is use to.  Not giving away too much of what happens DP finds himself contemplating what just happened and things are going to have to change.

I think this gives a good point for DP to grow as a character.  Without his healing factor, there is a more visible danger for him, which can make him really have to thing before he acts.  We have seen a tactical side of him before, but its always been some elaborate dangerous plan. Since as far as he knows he can be killed now it's going to be interesting to see how his new view on this changes him. One thing that I want to point out though is for all those people who think that just because he doesn’t have is healing factor anymore means he’ going to be dead soon you are wrong. Way back before this series, Deadpool was cursed by Thanos with eternal life.

I liked the art it was clean and detailed where appropriate, but one thing I do not understand is that it is all dotty.  Like there are dots all over the panel. Other than that though it was good.

Overall I'll give it a 6.5/10 It was a bit predictable but had a good opening to a new Deadpool.
