Review - Machine Man #14

When I rummage through my bargain bin every so often. I have the advantage to pick up issues just because they look good.  Machine Man #14 had an interesting cover, so I decided to pick it up. I am now glad that I did buy this issue because it was very good.

*Warning, there is spoilers in this review*

Senator Brickman is campaigning to be president of the United States of America. A huge hatred for Machine Man runs through his veins, and he wants to find a reason to make the general public hate him. Brickman then thinks up the idea that Machine Man will cause unemployment. Brickman's employees also help him, but in a different way. They take control of an unstoppable man that looks exactly like Machine Man. He then robs multiple banks and jewelry stores, and the  police think that Machine Man is responsible. At the same time, the general public is mad at Machine Man because they believe he, and others like him, will rob them of their jobs. Later that night Machine Man is arrested, and the police finally find out that he was not the one committing the crime. After being released, Machine Man confronts the impostor, and takes him down. The man who was controlled by Brickman's employees is fixed and returns to his family.
The art is by one of the great Marvel Comics artists, "Shy" Steve Ditko. The pages are absolutely gorgeous, shining with Ditko's beautiful drawings. The art looks like it could be some of  his best. The book would be nothing without the story. I absolutely thought the story was genius. Written by "Marvelous" Marv Wolfman, I was very entertained by the books plot, and the dialogue was easy to understand. I also want to give kind words to the Colorist, R. Slifer, because without colors the book wouldn't be so pretty. This is a on-off issue, so everyone can read it. Should you read it? Yes you should try it out. I will give this book an 8.5 out of 10 because it was so good.
